Hi, I'm Sherri, a software developer based in Atlanta, Georgia. My passion for technology and coding was born one Christmas morning when I received my first personal computer. I taught myself HTML and CSS in the 1990s, and it was then that my love for web development was born.
After working as a staff accountant for several years, I was ready for a change and subsequently obtained my B.S. in Information Technology from Kennesaw State University. Shortly after graduation, I began developing software using VB.Net and SQL at my current place of employment, where I gained valuable experience writing software using continuous integration and Agile Scrum methodologies. However, my dream of becoming a web-focused developer remained unrealized, and this led me to enroll in DigitalCrafts' Full Stack Flex program. As a recent graduate of the DigitalCrafts program, I am currently looking for more web-focused developer opportunities in the Atlanta area.
When I am not coding, I enjoy traveling, discovering new music, reading, scuba diving, and collecting vinyl records. I also enjoy spending time with my family and going "thrifting" with my daughter.
Below are a few projects that I completed during my enrollment
in DigitalCrafts' Full Stack program. You can hover over each
project to get a list of technologies used, while clicking on
the project's card will open a live demo.
I am currently working on more personal projects to strengthen
my current proficiencies and learn new languages, frameworks,
libraries, and tools.
"My Personal Bartender" is an application built using frontend technologies & APIs. The app allows the user to sign up for an account, search for drink recipes using various filters and save them, and find package stores near their location to buy ingredients. My role in the project involved using the Google Maps/Places APIs to create the find stores feature.
The application, "Weather or Not," allows a user to sign up for an account, search for weather conditions in particular locations (up to 5 per user) and save these locations for future viewing of weather information. Using Express, my task was coding the routes for the application, while also creating and populating the PostgreSQL database.
For "Fire & Ice", our final project, I was tasked with using Firebase/Firestore for data storage along with React to link up the frontend with the backend. This project used multiple Raspberry Pi computers to measure temperature and humidity, and these measurements were displayed on the UI along with graphs of the measurements over time.
